As a last hoora for Roses folks we all went up to Giverny to walk around Monet's garden on the weekend - a real oasis. Heading to Champaign tomorrow to taste the good stuff and escape the madness that seems to go with a summer in Paris.....

Big Day Out....

Roses folks Jan and Malcolm are staying with us for the week and held the fort whilst we had a day on the town including the MOMA Paris that houses a great Matisse work titled dancers in Paris thats pictured above and the fantastic Branly Museum of African art and and antiquities , and off-course lunch.... witnessed a little bit of anarchic activity on the way home....

Antique Flea Market

Went to an enormous flea market today on the Northern fringe of Paris. It was packed with the coolest stuff - amazingly and gratefully we came away empty handed but did only manage to see about 10% of it in half a day. A few examples above - we are thinking the clock (1.4m diameter) would suit the Mill though........

In Helsinki...

Just returned from a few days in Helsinki to see an exhibition of a favorite artist Georg Baselitz... was great. Didn't see any reindeer only men sporting weird facial hair..... Heading to the Orangrie today with kids to see Monet before heading to Givernie. Have included image of exhibition and Helsinki and two abstract images of mine.

The Louvre!

Took the kids for a taste of the Louvre today - magnificent and mental! Vast numbers of punters it was difficult to get within 20 feet of the Mona Lisa.. but plenty of other treats. Kids flagged but we did manage to show them a few of the highlights...

Lili in Paris.....

Lili's 12th birthday today! celebrated in style in Paris with lunch of Coq au Vin and shopping... also a picture of our digs and the pool......

Pompidou!

First day in Paris and off to the Pompidou (museum for art from 1910 - today) and what a blast. Kids loved it, still didn't see it all so back again tomorrow. Big Lucian Freud retrospective that was impressive and some other stuff above. Paris busy and hot - but many cool little alleys and shops/galleries......

Paris and Beyond.....

Just arrived in Paris and yet to explore. We have lobbed on friends of Toby and Emma's whilst they go to OZ and travel around including utilizing the Mill..... Little did they know what was about to hit them - still they also have 4 children. Germany was interesting on many fronts - poor, dirty, vibrant, young, rude, isolated, welcoming, immediate...... So prevalent in Berlin was WW2 - monuments images etc yet know one wants to discuss what went on, but aleviatete the memory through the creation of tourist attractions ...... I don't know but it is very raw for many..... anyway happy days in gay pari.....
