Old Items....

Rose and I went to a town near Avignon called l'isle la sorgue - large antique market and many very nice items... we are looking into returning with a few and some old Turkish Kilims we picked up in Spain....

A Taste of Spain.....

Just returned from San Sebastian and indulging in Tapas Sangria and general Spanish party mentality..... Kids on holidays and in general annoyance mode.... Rose progressing well with writing and loving the process... me off to Germany and Denmark next week.... Giles Suzanne then here and more wine.....

Surf....

Images of how it was just after we arrived in Lacanau.... Since then its been onshore slop - consequently we have been touring around tasting the wines etc.... Leaving Thursday for San Sebastian in Spain where am meeting Rose and Kids for the week. Maybe get some waves down there. Will be definitely be checking out an extensive ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG exhibition in Bilbao Guggenheim this weekend then maybe head down to Barcelona..... Depends on French strikes - everything is slowly grinding to a halt as the country runs out of fuel..... getting colder and the snow has been falling in the Alps... I am heading to Dusseldorf, Munich and Copenhagen for a week beginning November for some major exhibitions of Cy Twombly, Gerhard Richter and Anselm Kiefer - so very excited about that. Rose is negotiating to buy some Corsican white wine to label under Ulithorne so we look to be all going down there and staying in their Gite on the vineyard - its renown for its spectacular scenery..... Giles Suzanne and kids arriving for 10 days mid November so that will be fun.... Lots still to do but will update later

Surf flat so took a drive through prime Bordeaux country today.... Went past the most renown winery's in the world including Latour, Mouton Rothschild and Margaux plus many others. Very beautiful highly manicured and very very expensive wines.....

Bordeaux and Lacanau

Arrived in Lacanau to solid 8 foot dredging monster French beach breaks...... Suffice to say we just watched and witnessed people being smashed into the sand..... This place works best on 3-5 feet and thats enticipated for all next week....We did however get a couple of sessions in yesterday and it was fantastic to get in the water again even though a bit rusty....anyway we visited the beautiful city of Bordeaux and its contemporary art gallery - few images above.

More New Stuff....

Finding this has/is a great time to experiment and refine technique.... few works nearing completion above and some images from Medieval town Uzes..... Seems we are on terror alert here - maintaining the fear I think..... the frogs are asserting their imperious convictions... we enjoy mussels and one too many almond croissant's and flounder with poor language skills....still we remain happy....

New work and Giacometti.....

Heading off on Wednesday for surf trip to the Atlantic with Toby based at Lacanau near Bordeaux. Then meeting up with Rose and kids for a week in Spain - probably take in San Sebastian, Bilbao and Barcelona. Have included couple of new works by me and images from a fantastic Giacometti exhibition in Nice we went to last week. Have slowly began to meet other expats in the area - many artists and writers to consume wine with and discuss the meaning of it all - have discovered that Mr R Crumb lives just down the road so hope to meet him at some stage....
